Comcast Center is good urban development

  • Situated in downtown Philadelphia on a long-abandoned site above a major rail station, the building sits at a key public transportation node with 5 transit options located within a ½ mile, encouraging the use of public transportation. Promoting occupants to use mass transit instead of automobiles has the potential to reduce carbon emissions from commuting by 50%, the equivalent of 40 acres of trees a day.

  • All 52,000 square feet of parking is located underground to reduce heat absorption.

  • Three electric car charging stations to encourage alternative fuel vehicles.

  • The project created a new 25,000 public plaza located on ½ of the total site area in the heart of the city’s main business district where planting and fountains cover 25% of the plaza and create an attractive gathering place for workers and area residents.
